Veteran controller manufacturer HORI has opened pre-orders for a new arcade stick designed to accommodate the varied inputs of retro arcade emulation. The HORI Arcade Classic Pro is an officially licensed Nintendo product that is compatible with both PC and the Nintendo Switch 2. It has also received endorsement from Hamster Arcade Archive, with expectations that players will use the device to experience the publisher coin-op classics on Nintendo hardware.

Measuring 19.5 inches wide by 4.3 inches high and weighing four pounds, the controller features replaceable left and right panels. These modules can be swapped out to include an eight-way ball-top arcade lever, a rotating loop lever, a Pong-style dial paddle, and a classic trackball suitable for games like Missile Command. Each controller module fits on either the left or right slot to support ambidextrous players. The centre panel houses eight standard-sized arcade buttons equipped with fully programmable input and adjustable turbo and auto-fire speeds. It connects via a three-metre USB-A cable.

The modular arcade stick is priced at ¥39,980, which translates to roughly £225 or $260, excluding shipping and customs tax. Pre-orders are currently open and will close on October 2, ahead of an expected Spring 2027 release date. PlatinumGames co-founder Hideki Kamiya expressed public interest in purchasing the hardware following its announcement.
