NYT Connections Puzzle #1209 Hints and Answers for October 1
Stuck on today's NYT Connections puzzle? Here are the hints and full answers to help you complete Thursday's challenge without using all four guesses.

NYT Connections released in June 2023 as part of the New York Times' growing collection of free-to-play games. The puzzle is available worldwide on desktop and mobile apps.
Each day, players receive a grid of 16 words and must sort them into four groups of four by identifying shared connections. The groups are color-coded by difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest). Players get four guesses per day.
For October 1's puzzle (#1209), here are the category hints before the full answers:
Yellow: Ways to describe putting things somewhere. Green: Measurements you'd take for dress shirts. Blue: Indie rock bands you'd recognize from the 2000s. Purple: The first few letters of NYT print puzzles.
If you need the full answers, here they are:
Yellow: PLACE, POSITION, SITUATE, STICK. Green: CHEST, NECK, SLEEVE, WAIST. Blue: DECEMBERISTS, NATIONAL, SHINS, WALKMEN. Purple: ACRO, CROSS, KEN, SUD.
NYT Connections resets daily at midnight in your local timezone, giving players 24 hours to complete each puzzle.
