NRG In-Game Leader nitr0 Outlines Team Evolution Ahead of StarSeries Fall

NRG arrived in Barcelona to compete at StarSeries Fall with the goal of securing crucial Valve points to improve their standing in the Valve Regional Standing (VRS) race for a spot at the Singapore Major. Currently ranked ninth in the Americas and holding a narrow margin over competitors, the team faces an uphill battle to solidify their position. In-game leader Nick nitr0 Cannella stated that any win at the event would be massive for their Major aspirations, noting that the squad lacks LAN bonus points and must capitalize on every opportunity.

Going into the tournament, NRG faces MOUZ in their opening match. Cannella acknowledged that MOUZ is one of the favorite teams at the event but views them as a favorable matchup compared to other tier-one opponents because the team understands their tactical and psychological approach from a previous encounter in China. Cannella also pointed to upcoming tier-two competitions like iBUYPOWER Masters FLM and FRAG University as additional avenues to secure necessary rankings if needed, emphasizing that he is not overly worried about the pressure.

The roster has undergone notable shifts, incorporating Håkon hallzerk Fjærli and welcoming back Jeorge Endicott. According to Cannella, adding hallzerk was a smooth transition due to his previous experience on North American teams and shared philosophy derived from playing with EliGE. Meanwhile, Jeorge has shown noticeable improvement and increased work ethic since returning to the active lineup, taking on additional responsibilities such as managing pistol rounds.

Preparation for StarSeries Fall included the longest continuous practice period the team has enjoyed since adding hallzerk. While practicing exclusively in North America presents challenges in terms of testing strategies against top-tier competition, Cannella noted that the team used the time to fix mistakes, build chemistry, and expand their playbook before being tested on the international stage.
