Nintendo Proved Crucial In Helping Players Understand The Duskbloods

According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, Nintendo's partnership on The Duskbloods has helped the development team improve onboarding tutorials and address historical issues with player communication.

FromSoftware games have historically been quite vague in communicating player objectives. While this ambiguity is often considered a major part of the fun, developers have recognized that many players may have been put off by the sheer impenetrability of past titles. In a recent interview with IGN, Hidetaka Miyazaki, director for The Duskbloods, revealed that partnering with Nintendo has provided vital assistance to the development team regarding better onboarding tutorials, contrasting it with previous projects where the studio would simply drop players in and hope they figured things out.

Mysaki highlighted how valuable the ongoing partnership has been for handling complex features, systems, and the overall unique ruleset of the title. Having an external partner to constantly provide feedback, support, additional ideas, and balance has been essential. Because the systems are so complex, ensuring players understand how the game works and how to achieve success is an area where FromSoftware has historically struggled to convey information instantly.

"In this case, Nintendo is definitely the right partner for better conveying that information in a way that is understandable to the player; it definitely suits their strengths," Miyazaki noted. He also explained that Nintendo was very excited by the concept behind The Duskbloods, describing it as very forward-thinking in terms of its execution. This enthusiasm provided Miyazaki with significant reassurance when moving forward with the project, even before factoring in the business aspect of the collaboration.

Meanwhile, players who successfully applied for The Duskbloods network test are able to get their hands on the software. Because the test has set operational windows during which the game is accessible, participants have been advised to check full schedule guides for exact access times.
