No Next Fortnite Live Event Announced Yet, but Override Season Finale Expected by Halloween
Epic Games has not confirmed a date for Fortnite's next live event as of late September 2026. Players should watch for an announcement in the coming weeks, as the Override season finale approaches in late October.
Epic Games has not announced the next Fortnite live event. As of September 25, 2026, there is no confirmed date, name, or start time. The only locked-in event on the calendar is Fortnitemares 2026, starting October 1.
Chapter 7 Season 4: Override is heading into its final five weeks, with an expected end date of October 31. The last three seasons in Chapter 7 all closed with live events or Story Moments, so a finale around that date fits the pattern. This makes late October the most likely window for an announcement.
A second possibility is a chapter-ending event around the start of Chapter 8. Leaks point to a short mini-season launching November 1, followed by Chapter 8 Season 1 on December 5. The transition from Chapter 6 to Chapter 7 included its own finale event called Zero Hour, suggesting a similar event could mark the chapter change this time.
The last Fortnite live event was Unstable, a Story Moment held on August 15, 2026 at 2 PM ET. It wrapped up the Zero Shard storyline at the Zero Point Stabilizer and lasted around three minutes. The event played inside regular Battle Royale matches rather than a dedicated playlist, a format Epic has alternated with full live events throughout Chapter 7.
Epic typically reveals live events one to two weeks before they happen. Announcements come through the official Fortnite news page and the @FortniteGame account on X. In-game teasers often appear in the final weeks of a season, so players should watch for clues in upcoming October updates.
Fortnitemares 2026 was confirmed with a teaser showing a corrupted version of the Override pixel screen and the tagline "The Game Is Cursed." The event is expected to arrive with update v42.30 and run until the season ends, though Epic has not confirmed whether it will include a live event.
When the next live event launches, players should update the game before the event day, log in at least 30 minutes early, and stay in the match to watch the full sequence. For full live events, a dedicated playlist appears on the Discover tab. For Story Moments, players join a standard Battle Royale or Zero Build match on the right part of the map. Epic's most common start time this chapter has been 2 PM ET.
