Nexon revealed Fareidolia at Tokyo Game Show, finally giving a proper name to the title previously known by its codename Project RX. The game marks a new project from RX Studio, the team behind Blue Archive, and offers a distinctive take on the bishoujo genre by pairing character-driven storytelling with dynamic combat sequences.

Fareidolia centers on four characters known as Mates, each with unique personalities, abilities, and fighting mechanics. The roster includes Minie, an explorer driven by adventure; Ohana, a self-proclaimed all-rounder genius; and Shami, a cat-eared character perpetually short on cash. The characters inhabit the Twilight Mansion, where they explore their special powers and evolve together.

The combat system stands out for its blend of real-time and turn-based mechanics. Players navigate enemies and their Mates around an arena, choosing between direct attacks, group targeting, or support abilities to buff and heal allies. A hands-on demo at the show featured exploration through a warped library setting filled with ghostly entities, culminating in battles against mirrored replications of the player's own characters.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game balances life-simulation content with combat encounters. The demo showcased polished visuals and engaging combat flow, though dialogue was presented entirely in Japanese at the event. Nexon and RX Studio also featured an interactive booth experience where attendees could call out team members and compete in rock-paper-scissors mini-games to interact with the characters.

The game currently has no announced release date. The Tokyo Game Show demo provided an early look at Fareidolia's direction, signaling the developers' focus on blending narrative depth with accessible yet engaging combat systems.
