Netflix and Sega are expanding their partnership with a new movie adaptation based on Stranger Than Heaven. The announcement arrives ahead of the video game launch. Stranger Than Heaven functions as a Like a Dragon prequel video game and is scheduled to arrive next year. Netflix is moving forward with the movie adaptation even though players have not yet gone hands on with the game itself.

The game is set in Japan across different eras between 1915 and 1965. Players control Makoto Daito, a Japanese-American orphan who travels to Japan and eventually forms the Tojo Clan. The game previously drew attention when it was announced that deceased rapper Tupac Shakur and actor Bunta Sugawara, who died in 2014, would be included as integral characters.

Sega's head producer shared enthusiasm for the upcoming slate of adaptations. They stated that players should expect a badass action drama for Stranger Than Heaven because the team has amazing creative ideas lined up. The Stranger Than Heaven movie is currently undated. The project is part of a broader push by Netflix into video game adaptations in partnership with Sega.
