Neon Abyss 2 arrives October 8 with new final boss Theia and fishing minigames

Neon Abyss 2 is heading toward full release on October 8, 2026, after time in early access. The sequel to the 2020 run-and-gun roguelike was shown at PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, revealing new content for the launch.

The headline addition is Theia, God of Vanity, a new final boss designed to challenge players across three phases. According to the developers, "Theia is a distorted blend of broken mirrors, sharp gemstones and radiant neon auras that dazzle from the beginning of the fight. Each attack across her three phases is accompanied by blinding flashes and shattering audio designed to disorientate Agents." Players can expect rainbow eyebeams and visually demanding encounters that will end plenty of runs.

Beyond the boss fight, the sequel continues the first game's emphasis on variety. Up to four players can tackle co-op combat together, supported by an extensive roster of weapons and abilities that create different builds. The game also includes minigames alongside the core roguelike action, including fishing, beach sports, basketball, and a Bejeweled-style puzzle mode. A sufficiently large fish catch nets 365 points.

The original Neon Abyss combined procedural generation with vibrant visuals and complex mechanical systems. The sequel aims to expand on that foundation with increased player count and additional content options.
