NBA The Run is receiving its Wave One update next week with a substantial roster expansion and gameplay refinements. The free update adds five legendary players from the turn of the millennium: Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tracy McGrady.

Players can unlock each legend by earning 5,000 CRED through gameplay, or purchase them individually as DLC for $9.99. The update introduces championship belts that players can earn with each legend, adding progression goals and replayability.

Beyond roster additions, Wave One brings several new features. A new Drive Cam perspective joins the existing camera options, while a practice mode helps players hone their skills. A new court also releases with the update.

The gameplay changes address competitive balance and animation depth. A significant goaltending nerf adjusts defensive positioning and timing windows. The update expands offensive animations with new driving layups, standing dunks, and alley-oop variations. Advanced off-the-heels animations now allow defenders to be hit multiple times in a single play or knocked down entirely.

Additional player-specific changes and animation improvements are also included in the update, with further details expected to be shared in the coming days.
