Navigating Key Quests and Choices in The Blood of Dawnwalker
A breakdown of pivotal player decisions in The Blood of Dawnwalker, from early dialogue options with Anca to late-prologue boss strategies and moral dilemmas.
Players diving into the action-packed world of The Blood of Dawnwalker face several narrative crossroads and challenging combat scenarios early in the game. From managing limited time segments during the tutorial to making consequential moral decisions regarding supporting characters, understanding these choices helps shape your journey across Vale Sangora.
During the opening sequence, after retrieving medicinal herbs from Anca, she offers to teach you Latin while waiting out the rain. Players can choose to stay or excuse themselves. Opting to leave saves an extra time segment, allowing you to complete more village quests before sundown Mass, whereas studying Latin primarily serves deep roleplaying goals or speed-running. Later in the adventure, players must decide whether to throw Leonica's black magic notes into the fire or let Anca study them to save the sisters of St. Tyna's. Allowing Anca to use the notes dispels the curse, though it is implied she suffers for performing the dark ritual, while burning them leaves the immediate narrative track largely unchanged.
Other critical dilemmas emerge throughout regional quests, such as dealing with soldiers at Mert's Mill during 'The Firebrand' quest. Arriving during the day prompts Renna to ask you to spare the soldiers hiding in the barn. However, eliminating them is necessary to prevent Renna from being killed while you work to free Mert from prison at Stoneward Post. Similarly, in the 'Stronger Than Achilles' quest, you must choose whether to use The Font yourself to gain a human health regeneration passive, allow Anca to use it to cleanse her curse and unlock additional romance dialogue, or destroy it to uncover an average pair of legendary trousers.
Combat encounters also push players to their limits, particularly the prologue showdown against Brencis, Knyaz of Vale Sangora. While the encounter is structured as a traditional boss fight where losing to regular Brencis triggers a narrative-advancing cutscene, persistent players who master Perfect Blocks, dodges, and shadow steps can defeat him and face his true form, Brencis, Grotesque Ascendant. Finally, choosing whether to invite the rogue Vrakhir Ambrus into your inner circle after drinking his blood results in him acting as a persistent voice commenting on your actions throughout the remainder of the game, while granting access to the Scarlet Shield ability.
