Moss VR Developer Polyarc Shuts Down After 12 Years

Moss series developer Polyarc has announced the closure of its studio, marking the end of the developer behind the acclaimed VR franchise after years in operation. The announcement came via LinkedIn.

The studio is best known for producing the Moss series of VR games, which also received a traditional non-VR release. The Seattle-based studio operated for 12 years.

"Today is the end of an era for Polyarc. After nearly 12 years riding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that is making video games, our time together has come to an end. As we wind down active development, we are saying our farewells to each other. Working together over all of these years has been an honor. Bringing surprise and delight to those who played our games has been a privilege. Thank you to everyone at Polyarc; our work is now finished," the studio wrote in its farewell message.

The studio is urging other studios to hire the developers affected by this closure. Their message includes a spreadsheet with contact information for their developers.

Unfortunately, studio closures and layoffs have been a common theme in 2026. FuturLab, the studio behind PowerWash Simulator, recently had to lay off staff and cancel a project in development.
