MJ Studios discusses Kingdom World success and Roblox growth
Technical director Idiris Mustaf explains how the Saudi-based studio grew from a hobby into a self-sustaining business through Roblox.

MJ Studios has reached a significant milestone with its Roblox title, Kingdom World, which has surpassed 100 million visits. The studio, which began in 2020, has grown from a personal hobby into a self-sustaining business by utilizing the Roblox developer economy and in-game purchases rather than seeking outside investment.
Idiris Mustaf, the studio's technical director, lead developer, and partnerships manager, recently discussed the studio's development process. Mustaf noted that the Roblox platform provided essential infrastructure, including multiplayer systems, servers, and monetization tools, which allowed the team to focus on content creation rather than building foundational systems from scratch.
Kingdom World is designed to reflect everyday life in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The game incorporates local architecture, streets, shops, and clothing to create an authentic experience. Mustaf stated, “If someone from the other side of the world can play Kingdom World, enjoy it, and learn something about Saudi Arabia along the way, that's a success for us.”
While the game is officially live and fully playable, the studio's Roblox page still lists it as being in beta. Mustaf attributed this to a Roblox bug that prevents them from updating the description. The studio continues to develop new features and locations to match the growth of the city of Riyadh.
Financially, the studio relies on revenue generated through the platform. Mustaf reported that even on days without new updates, the studio generates approximately 150,000 Robux, which is roughly $525, per day. This revenue is reinvested into the team and ongoing development.
Looking toward the future, MJ Studios sees opportunities to introduce more genres to the Arab Roblox community, which Mustaf noted is currently heavily focused on roleplaying games. While the studio is open to expanding into PC, mobile, and console platforms, they maintain that success does not require leaving the Roblox ecosystem.
