Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Announces World Update Poland and Baltics Along With New Roadmap Details

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 developers shared upcoming content plans during a livestream, revealing World Update 23, new aircraft updates, and a release schedule.

Microsoft has detailed upcoming content and features for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 following a recent developer livestream hosted by Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann, Asobo CEO Sebastian Wloch, and Executive Producer Martial Bossard. Neumann noted that the simulator is experiencing its highest monthly active users since launch, alongside stable performance and high frame rates.

During the stream, developers discussed upcoming platform updates. Wloch explained that while the team tested PSSR 1 on PlayStation 5, the built-in TAA yielded superior results and was kept. Support for PSSR 2 remains in the backlog. On the PS5 marketplace, liveries will arrive as the next type of add-on, while airport releases will require a dedicated debug tool to verify hardware requirements. Additionally, the Airbus A380 is hinted to hit the PS5 marketplace in the coming weeks. For PC players, the team is evaluating DLSS 5, though implementation depends on receiving an API that allows developers to retain proper control over lighting conditions and shadows.

A major highlight from the roadmap is World Update 23: Poland and the Baltics, which has a tentative release date of October 27. It will launch alongside payware Local Legend 25, the Antonov An-28 created by Andrei Tsvirenko at AT Simulations. Prior to that, Aircraft and Avionics Update 6 is scheduled for September 29, bringing several payware aircraft to simulation standards, including the Dornier DO J Wal, Dornier DO X, Dornier DO 31, Junkers F13, and Junkers Ju 52. Carenado will also release the Cessna CT206G Stationair 6 on the official marketplace on October 6.

Sim Update 7 is planned for October 13 and will feature the National Championship Air Races. The base Reno experience will be included directly in the base simulator rather than functioning as a paid add-on, while the Full Collection will be priced down to $40. Owners of the previous Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 version will receive these items at no additional cost. Sim Update 7 will also introduce a default Electronic Flight Bag widget built by Working Title to handle ground services and pushback.

Working Title's Matt Nischan shared details on the next Expert Series aircraft, the Embraer Praetor 600, featuring sound design by Boris Audio Works and fully physics-based components. The aircraft is slated for release on November 24. Furthermore, a licensed Livery Update is scheduled to arrive in December.
