Indie developer Mad Rabbit Digital has released a playable Steam demo for Metal Crisis, an upcoming space shooter inspired by the PlayStation classic Einhander.

Indie developer Mad Rabbit Digital has released a playable demo for Metal Crisis, a new space shooter currently in development. Players can download the preview on Steam or directly from the SFGHQ forums. Metal Crisis is a 2D horizontal and vertical shmup that is inspired by 3D space shooters of the 90s.
Set against the backdrop of an intergalactic colony war, players pilot a new Earth vessel called the Cruise UEF Mk.I. The mission requires players to regain stolen military reconnaissance from deep behind enemy lines. While enemy forces are tough and plentiful, the Cruise UEF is equipped with the ability to adapt to the weaponry of opposing forces. Players can adopt enemy fire patterns, changing their arsenal on the fly against waves of adversaries and bosses.
The weapon system, audio style, and visual design are instantly reminiscent of Einhander, a classic shmup that launched on PlayStation in 1997. Metal Crisis features metallic 3D environments, visual effects, and a pounding techno score composed by Mad Rabbit pseudonym DJEAR. No official release date has been set for the game yet.
