Rumor: Media Molecule's Next Game Reported as a Social Simulation Launching in 2027
A new report claims that Media Molecule is developing a social simulation game inspired by Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, slated for a 2027 release.

Developer Media Molecule might be preparing to announce and release its next project in 2027. According to a report by MP1st citing sources familiar with the project, the Guildford-based studio is taking a totally new direction with a social simulation game inspired by titles like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon.
Players curious about the studio's next move have been waiting since active development on Dreams wound down. Media Molecule ended post-launch support for Dreams in September 2023, and confirmed it was working on a new project earlier that year in April. The upcoming title is reportedly not a game-as-a-service title and is expected to feature open world aspects.
The report cautions that development timelines remain subject to change, meaning the title could still face delays. However, the sources indicate the game will be revealed in 2027 at the very least. Media Molecule is previously known for developing platformers such as LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway.
