Mahershala Ali Confirms He Is Done With Marvel Blade Project

Actor Mahershala Ali has confirmed that he is completely finished with Marvel Studios and his long-delayed Blade project. Ali spent more than a year preparing to portray the Daywalker and wielding a sword before the production stalled.

Despite the cancellation of the vampire hunter film, Ali noted that Marvel Studios helped financially contribute to his latest project, an action thriller distributed by MGM Studios titled Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. Directed by Bassam Tariq, the film follows a religious hitman named Latif, played by Ali, who navigates Houston to protect his children.

Ali confirmed his departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe during an interview, stating he is entirely done with that chapter. His involvement with Marvel previously included an off-screen voice role in Eternals and the use of his likeness in the first season of Marvel Zombies. Meanwhile, the new action thriller directed by Tariq released in theaters on September 25.
