Magic: The Gathering's Reality Fracture set pits planeswalkers against their alternate selves
The upcoming Reality Fracture expansion concludes a three-year storyline where planeswalker Jace Beleren attempts to create a new multiverse, leading to mirror matches between iconic characters and their doppelgangers.

Magic: The Gathering's next expansion, Reality Fracture, brings the card game's three-year narrative arc to a climax. The storyline, which has been building across core expansions since Wilds of Eldraine, centers on planeswalker Jace Beleren's attempt to create a new multiverse free from threats like the Phyrexians and Eldrazi, though doing so would overwrite the existing multiverse.
The set features mirror matches between famous planeswalkers and their alternate versions. Chandra, a pyromancer, faces off against a cryomantic version of herself. Liliana, the necromancer, confronts a life magic practitioner wearing white. Other characters like Tomik Vrona, an Orzhov Syndicate lawyer, appear as radically different versions, such as a sparkmage who breaks the laws of physics.
To help players understand these contrasts, Wizards of the Coast designed Reality Fracture's booster packs to contain paired cards together. Players will see both versions of a character simultaneously, making the character transformations clear without requiring knowledge of tie-in novels or comics.
Reality Fracture arrives digitally in Magic: The Gathering Arena on September 29, with a global release on October 2. Pre-release events begin September 25.
