The 1994 JRPG The Legend of Heroes 3: The White Witch is being revived for modern consoles and PC by Neowiz, the publisher behind Lies of P. The English localization of the game released in North America in 2006 on the PlayStation Portable and has remained exclusive to that platform. The Japanese version is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop through publisher D4 Enterprise's EGGCONSOLE series, but the official English localization is confined to the handheld system.
Due to historical release order variations in North America, the title has experienced confusing naming conventions. The Legend of Heroes 4 released in North America in 2005 as The Legend of Heroes, leading its predecessor to launch the following year as The Legend of Heroes 2. The upcoming revival by Neowiz is sticking with the original Japanese naming convention as The Legend of Heroes 3: The White Witch, targeting PC and consoles at an undisclosed release date.
Neowiz has described the project as a revival and recreation, aiming for a polished, updated adaptation. A Neowiz spokesperson stated that the company wants to bring a polished experience that recaptures the emotional experience of the original game while inviting new and old players to immerse themselves in an updated adaptation, noting that the agreement builds a strong partnership with Nihon Falcom.
