Lazy River, a new PvE shooter from indie developers, merges zombie survival gameplay with the absurdist premise of defending a water park lazy river. The game tasks squads of up to four players with surviving an endless drift down a contaminated pool while building and defending a floating base.

The core loop revolves around construction and crisis management. Players start by assembling a raft from components like sails, engines, rudders, and turrets, then expand it into a full base of operations complete with supply storage and crafting tables. Balance matters: poorly constructed rafts capsize during rough waters. As the raft drifts, players jump ashore to scavenge supplies while defending against incoming threats.

Combat centers on pool-themed weapons that scale in power over time. Players start with pool noodles and squirt guns, gradually upgrading them at onboard crafting tables. The chaos escalates quickly: zombies swarm rapidly, drones fire killer lasers, and river obstacles damage the raft. Managing threats requires splitting focus between guarding the base with weapons or turrets and maintaining construction under fire.

The team includes indie gaming veteran Mike Boxleiter. Development remains in early stages, with the developers planning an extended Early Access period on Steam to test multiple four-player squads and refine gameplay. Lazy River is coming to PC via Steam Early Access in 2027. A preview build was playable at PAX West 2026.
