Kena: Scars of Kosmora delayed to 2027, Ember Lab reveals island setting and gameplay

Ember Lab has delayed Kena: Scars of Kosmora to 2027, the developer announced on the PlayStation Blog. The studio is extending development time to polish an expanded experience that exceeds the scale and quality of 2021's Bridge of Spirits.

The sequel follows Kena as a Spirit Guide investigating her past on the mysterious island of Kosmora. Her childhood friend Orfio believes the island holds answers for them both. Kena discovers that ancient Spirit Guides on Kosmora developed unique approaches to their craft, each tied to one of four elements that once fueled separate cultures across the island. A mysterious cataclysm destroyed one culture, and the spiritual knowledge faded into history. As that ancient wisdom remains buried, danger grows across the surviving regions.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora is a character-focused linear adventure with expanded scope. The world rewards players who venture off the main path. Kena will explore multiple living cultures, each with their own histories, values, and struggles. Her decisions and experience must adapt to evolving situations and new personalities across the regions.

Gameplay centers on Alchemystic Temples, complex Spirit Guide dungeons that challenge player skills and provide transformative rewards. Kena gains a crystalline canine companion tied to the island's mystery. The mount serves as both a traversal tool and a combat aid. The spirit also helps solve puzzles both mounted and on foot, making it central to Kena's adventure across the larger world.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora releases in 2027 on PS5 and PC. Physical and digital versions will launch on PS5, while the PC version will be digital only.
