Japanese Developer Kadath Announces Dark Fantasy Action RPG Under Mythos

Japanese developer Kadath has announced its debut title, a dark fantasy action RPG called Under Mythos. The game is currently scheduled for a 2028 release window and is available to wishlist on Steam, with additional platforms yet to be confirmed by the studio.

Under Mythos follows a lone cat that wanders into another world and discovers a mysterious hot spring inn while searching for its mother. The cat chooses to work at the inn, hoping the job will help reunite them with their mother, even as the surrounding world grows increasingly unpredictable and descends into madness.

The gameplay loop centers on managing the inn by taking care of guests alongside undertaking dungeon expeditions for food and resources. Players venture into dungeons to participate in action combat to secure food supplies to serve to the guests. Successful ventures reward players with resources to develop the hot spring inn, which unlocks new encounters and events.

The development staff for Under Mythos includes several industry veterans. Character designer Atsuko Nishida previously worked on Pokémon, while scenario writer Takumi Miyajima contributed to Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss. Composer Noriyuki Iwadare and producer Yoichi Miyaji, both known for the Grandia and Lunar series, are also attached to the project.
