Japanese Charts: Nintendo Continues To Dominate With Rhythm Heaven Groove

Famitsu boxed sales data for Japan reveals Nintendo's continued dominance, led by Rhythm Heaven Groove and strong Switch 2 hardware sales.

Famitsu has released the latest figures for boxed software and hardware sales in Japan, covering the two-week period from August 3rd to August 16th. Nintendo continues to dominate the sales charts, with Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation standing out as the sole title representing the PlayStation 5 within the top ten.

Leading the software pack is Rhythm Heaven Groove, which pulled in an impressive 139,363 sales during the tracked weeks. It was followed closely by Splatoon Raiders, which secured 64,921 sales. Other notable software charting in the top ten included Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Powerful Pro Baseball 2026-2027, and Ganbare Goemon Daishuugou!.

On the hardware side, the charts presented a familiar picture as the Switch 2 came out on top by shifting another 65,560 units. Meanwhile, the original Switch managed combined sales totaling 15,020 units. Sony's PlayStation 5 platforms also saw notable movement; the PS5 Digital Edition sold 19,310 units across the two weeks, while combined standard and digital PS5 hardware sales reached 19,955 units. Microsoft's hardware lagged significantly behind in the tracked region, with Xbox systems managing just 135 total sales during the period.
