Injustice 3 Rumored as the Mystery AAA Fighting Game Hosting Playtests
A recently deleted playtest listing from Good Gamer Group has sparked rumors that NetherRealm Studios is developing Injustice 3.

Recent industry rumors strongly point to NetherRealm Studios developing a third entry in the Injustice franchise as its next unannounced project. Speculation grew following a now-deleted listing on the Good Gamer Group website, an organization that handles NDA-protected playtests for game publishers. The listing called for participants to test a triple-A fighting game and a major 2D fighting game.
Although the title of the game was omitted from the listing, several geographical and structural clues connect the playtest to NetherRealm and its parent company, Warner Bros. Games. The testing sessions are set to take place in Culver City, California, which matches the location of Warner Bros. corporate headquarters. Additionally, the listing requires players to rank in the top 25 percent of a major 2D fighting game, aligning with NetherRealm's history of developing 2D fighting titles.
Other indicators point toward the studio's usual development timeline. Following the launch of Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, NetherRealm appears to have shifted toward a four-year development cycle. An eventual release for a new superhero fighting game around 2027 would fit this schedule, while a potential reveal at The Game Awards in December matches past studio announcements.
Previous leaks and comments from those associated with the franchise have also contributed to the ongoing rumors. Voice actors who worked on the first two games previously suggested they were returning for Injustice 3 before walking back their comments. Furthermore, concept art appeared on a Warner Bros. Games artist resume in April.
NetherRealm has not officially confirmed the project, and studio boss Ed Boon previously noted in May that the team is actively pursuing a Mortal Kombat project while also working on other concepts. Reports have also indicated that the studio might move away from the Injustice name for future DC comics projects, given that the narrative arc concluded with Injustice 2 in 2017.
