Immutable launches Immutable Audience to accelerate pre-launch Steam wishlists
Immutable has announced Immutable Audience, a new growth engine designed to help pre-launch Steam studios track attribution, build player CRMs, and grow wishlists faster ahead of an August 21, 2026 launch.
Immutable has announced the launch of Immutable Audience, a new growth engine built for pre-launch Steam games designed to help studios increase wishlists faster, reduce launch risk, and track marketing attribution. According to Immutable CEO Robbie Ferguson, the PC and console markets have lagged behind mobile gaming when it comes to attribution, measurement, and distribution. Immutable Audience builds on growth capabilities developed through the company's work with more than 700 games and studios, sitting alongside its existing game infrastructure products. The tool is scheduled to become available to pre-launch Steam studios starting August 21, 2026, with a promotional offer of one month of free product access for qualifying games that sign up through the announcement.
Competition for player attention on Steam has accelerated significantly, with Steam Next Fest participation reaching a record 4,353 games in June 2026—a 66% year-on-year increase—while Steam's monthly active user base grew roughly 18% over the same period. Immutable notes that 80% to 90% of pre-launch Steam wishlists currently feature no attribution path, leaving developers unable to determine which specific marketing efforts generated them. Immutable Audience features a Custom Growth Plan that utilizes real-time performance data and learnings from hundreds of games to analyze a Steam page, social content, creators, festivals, and paid acquisition channels to recommend high-priority steps. For example, 1047 Games utilized the technology for its game Empulse, growing by more than 300,000 wishlists in under two months and becoming the 6th most-played demo out of 4,353 games during the June 2026 Steam Next Fest.
The platform also features Enhanced Attribution, which combines performance data across Steam, social channels, paid advertising, and creators to reveal which activities drive wishlists, installs, and purchases. Immutable reports that this system increases attribution coverage to over 60% of wishlists, roughly three times the coverage of next-best alternatives. Additionally, the tool provides an Owned Audience player CRM that combines marketing and engagement data. Controlled testing with Ubisoft yielded a 2.8 times uplift in wishlist-to-purchase conversion through personalized engagement compared to relying on Steam alone. Founded in Sydney in 2018, Immutable has raised more than $300 million from investors including Tencent and previously focused heavily on Web3 and blockchain gaming infrastructure before expanding its offerings to general game studios and developers.
