iBuyPower RDY Scale B06 review: Budget RTX 5060 PC struggles to justify its price

iBuyPower's latest budget prebuilt pairs an Intel Core Ultra 5 with an RTX 5060, but single-channel memory and minimal storage hold it back. It's only worth considering during sales.

iBuyPower's RDY Scale B06 is a budget gaming PC that makes aggressive compromises to hit its $1,479 price point. The system pairs an Intel Core Ultra 5 225F CPU with an Nvidia RTX 5060 8GB graphics card, a 1TB SSD, and 16GB of DDR5 memory. While the prebuilt is aimed at budget-conscious shoppers, several design choices limit its appeal.

The most significant weakness is the memory configuration. The system uses a single stick of 16GB DDR5 running at 5200 MT/s with a CAS latency of 40. Single-channel memory creates a performance penalty compared to dual-channel setups, and the speed and latency are not particularly fast for DDR5. Upgrading to 32GB requires either finding a matching stick (difficult and uncertain) or replacing the module entirely at a loss.

Storage is another concern. The 1TB drive provides roughly 952GB of usable space after formatting. After installing Windows, browsers, Steam, Epic Games, the Nvidia app, and drivers, only around 300GB remained for game installations during testing. This is minimal for modern AAA titles, which often exceed 100GB each.

Performance testing shows the B06 delivers solid 1080p gaming and playable 1440p performance in demanding titles. In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at 1440p Ultra, the system averaged 36 fps. Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with ray tracing on medium settings achieved 35 fps. Baldur's Gate 3 at 1440p Ultra hit 71 fps. Black Myth: Wukong at 1440p Very High reached 30 fps. The RTX 5060 handles less demanding games well, but struggles with the latest AAA releases at high settings.

Direct comparison reveals the system's positioning problem. An Acer Predator Orion 3000 with an RTX 5070, better Intel CPU, and DDR4 memory cost only $20 more at launch. That system outperformed the B06 across every gaming benchmark, sometimes by significant margins. The Predator also came in a compact case. However, RTX 5070 PCs at this price are increasingly rare and that specific Acer SKU is no longer widely available.

The case is surprisingly large for the budget components inside, offering decent front I/O including USB-C and generous rear connectivity. The 600-watt 80 Plus Gold PSU is adequate for the hardware. Wi-Fi 6 is included.

iBuyPower frequently runs sales on the RDY Scale B06, with multiple discounts observed in recent weeks. At MSRP, the system is difficult to recommend. With a few hundred dollars off during promotional periods, it becomes a more competitive mainstream gaming PC for 1080p and entry-level 1440p gaming. Buyers with a slightly higher budget should explore RTX 5070 options, which deliver noticeably better performance.
