I Am Your Beast VR Review-In-Progress Details Speedrunning Action and Port Mechanics
A review-in-progress of I Am Your Beast VR highlights its fast-paced combat scenarios, speedrunning focus, and flat-to-VR port mechanics.

MaxGG News reports that I Am Your Beast VR offers a thrilling series of micro-sandbox combat scenarios designed to test player reflexes and patience. Developed by Flat2VR Spark and Strange Scaffold with publishing by Impact Inked, the title is priced at $22.99 on Steam. The game serves as the second release from the Flat2VR Spark program, which pairs developers with experienced VR modders for official VR ports.
Players step into the role of Alphonse Harding, a retired secret agent targeted by his former employer, the Covert Operations Initiative. The campaign features over twenty short-form missions focused on objective-driven combat, such as eliminating enemies, destroying satellites, and reaching escape points. Every mission includes a strict time limit, with performance graded from D to S-rank depending on speed, headshots, and optional objectives completed.
Combat mechanics emphasize speed and efficiency rather than deep tactical physics. The game features no reloading system; instead, players throw empty weapons at enemies and pick up dropped firearms to keep moving. Traversal and environmental interactions remain streamlined, avoiding complex physics to maintain rapid mission pacing. Later missions unlock based on performance ranks earned in earlier stages.
Visuals rely on a cel-shaded art style paired with a pulse-pounding musical score. Reviewers noted that narrative interludes between missions occur inside a virtual bunker, reflecting the title's origins as a flatscreen port. Movement options include snap turning with degree settings, while teleport movement is absent. A no-fail assist option is available, though it affects mission ranking. The review remains in-progress ahead of a full release score.
