Rumor: Horizon Hunters Gathering Rebooted With Smaller Scope Following Negative Playtest Feedback

According to reports emerging from Bloomberg and other industry sources, PlayStation and developer Guerrilla Games are reportedly rebooting Horizon Hunters Gathering following negative player feedback during closed playtests held earlier this year. Work on the overhaul allegedly began last June.

Instead of continuing with a live-service framework, the action role-playing game is reportedly stripping away its live-service model entirely. The new direction aims to deliver a more traditional cooperative multiplayer experience featuring a story mode, though sources indicate that this component will feature a significantly smaller scope. Reports also suggest that Guerrilla Games faces a December deadline to impress executives with their next milestone, a decision that could ultimately determine whether the project launches.

The adjustments come amid wider shifts in Sony's live-service initiatives following the failure of Concord, alongside cancellations affecting other prominent franchises.
