High-End Graphics Card Shipments Reach 12.5 Million Units Despite Rising Prices
A recent report reveals that global shipments of PC graphics add-in boards reached 12.5 million units last quarter, even as prices continue to rise.

Global shipments of PC graphics add-in boards reached 12.5 million units last quarter, marking a 10% increase from the previous period. According to a report from John Peddie Research, high-end graphics card sales have spiked despite rising prices. Dr. Jon Peddie described the trend as defying common wisdom.
Nvidia continues to hold a dominant position in the consumer graphics market with a 90% share of the add-in board market, representing a slight decrease of 0.01% from the prior quarter. AMD holds an 8% share, while Intel accounts for the remaining 2%. The report also noted that the likelihood of purchasing an add-in board alongside a desktop PC increased to 89%, marking a 23% quarter-over-quarter increase.
Experts attribute the purchasing surge to consumers acquiring components ahead of anticipated price increases. Peddie stated that consumers rushed to buy add-in boards before prices went higher, driven by component shortages connected to the conflict in Iran. In contrast, desktop PC CPU shipments dipped to 14 million units, representing a 10.5% quarter-over-quarter drop and a 33% year-to-year decrease.
