Hello Sunshine flips the typical escort mission formula by casting players as the protected party rather than the protector. A new trailer unveiled at PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct expands on the relationship between the Nomad, the game's protagonist, and the giant robot that provides shelter in a devastated world.

Players take the role of the Nomad, described as the final employee of the Sunshine Corporation, which left Earth a scorched ruin. The trailer features the Nomad admitting responsibility for the world's condition. By day, players follow the robot toward a colossal tower while scavenging for resources and searching for clues about how civilization ended.

Venturing too far from the robot exposes the Nomad to sun damage, though progression unlocks longer expeditions away from the companion. At night, temperatures drop critically and the machine stops to recharge. Players must stay close for warmth while upgrading gear and making repairs. In the trailer, the Nomad states, "Without you, I'd be dead," hinting at the deep interdependence between the two characters.

Hello Sunshine launches in 2027. The game is available to wishlist on Steam.
