Helldivers 2 Update Sends Players Into the Illuminate Void

Arrowhead Game Studios has revealed major details regarding the latest content drop for Helldivers 2, which sends players into an entirely new frontier known as the Void. Following the completion of the Gateway's construction—made possible by Voteless tissue samples gathered during the Census Thunder campaign and a stabilized wormhole on Rirga Bay—players are tasked with pushing back the Illuminate advance and initiating a counteroffensive. The overarching goal of the narrative is to destroy unnatural Illuminate mutations in the name of Managed Democracy.

Entering the Void introduces players to strange environments devoid of stars in the skies, where planets pulled into the dimension have been mutated and reborn. On these worlds, players must navigate ancient technologies and Illuminate ruins. The main objective is to locate and liberate the hidden Source planet, formerly known as Seasse, which is now filled with haunting flora and Illuminate horrors such as the Wretch and the Crusher. Inside the Void, operations feature randomized primary objectives ranging from eradicating noxious Void blossoms to destroying Gazer Spires and cleansing Foul Shrines. Players are also equipped with a tactical video camera to document discoveries and war crimes.

To survive these dangerous environments, Helldivers can unlock secondary extraction zones during missions. Furthermore, players are assisted by upgraded SEAF support squads, which offer improved medical and offensive support alongside morale boosts. The storyline kicks off the "Devoid of Liberty" narrative arc, which launched alongside significant gameplay improvements, including raising the level cap to 300. Additionally, Arrowhead Game Studios recently introduced a Warhammer 40,000-flavored Legendary Warbond featuring armor sets with the "True Grit" passive ability, alongside munitions like the R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle primary, the P/40-K Bolt pistol, and the 40-K Meltagun Stratagem. Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
