Happy Wheels arrives on Steam with 750,000 wishlists after 16 years

The ragdoll physics racing game returns to modern platforms with user-created levels, offline support, and planned updates for controller and Steam Deck play.

Happy Wheels, the viral 2010 racing game known for its absurdist ragdoll physics and cartoonish violence, has launched on Steam following the discontinuation of Adobe Flash Player five years ago.

Creator Jim Bonacci released the game to the platform last week, arriving with over 5 million user-created levels. The launch exceeded Bonacci's expectations significantly. "Moments before this release of Happy Wheels, I sit in terror looking at the 750,000 wishlists statistic," Bonacci said. "I realistically was thinking maybe 5k at best." He attributed the strong reception to the game's 16-year history and dedicated community.

The Steam release includes features beyond the original browser version. Players can link old Happy Wheels accounts to Steam IDs, access levels offline, and use a fully featured level editor to create and share their own courses. The version removes ads entirely.

Bonacci confirmed ongoing development plans. "Happy Wheels will continue to receive updates after launch, including improvements to controller and Steam Deck play, offline support, achievements, bug fixes, and more."

The game remains playable across multiple devices through Steam syncing, allowing progress to carry between platforms.
