Developer IllFonic has released update 1.0.1 for Halloween: The Game, addressing a wide array of technical issues, balancing concerns, and gameplay friction. Among the most notable updates is a fix for cross-play matchmaking, which previously caused party members to be kicked to the main menu or dropped. With the new patch, cross-play party members will now successfully follow their leader into a matchmade lobby.

The update also implements significant stamina and balance adjustments for chases between Michael Myers and Civilians. To help Michael consistently apply pressure in the open, the patch increases civilian base stamina regen delay time, boosts stamina consumption caused by evil presence, and applies reduced stamina regen rates and increased regen delays to stalked targets. Meanwhile, adjustments have been made across different athletic levels: lower athleticism tiers (levels 1–4) see a decreased exhausted duration and faster stamina recovery, whereas higher athleticism tiers (levels 6–10) experience a slight reduction in max stamina and regen rates to maintain proper chase tension.

Additionally, NPC behavior and pathing have been improved to prevent issues such as Police NPCs getting stuck in specific locations and Residents failing to path toward escapes. To help ease the onboarding experience for newer players, the range at which players uncover escapes has been increased. IllFonic is also providing 5,000 free Perk Points as a thank-you to fans who played prior to 9:00 AM PST on September 8 during the early access period.

Other fixes included in update 1.0.1 involve crash resolutions, adjustments to end-of-match scoring, various challenge and achievement tracking corrections, and specific adjustments to perk deck limits and killer mechanics.
