Gunman Contracts Stand Alone, an action-movie inspired first-person shooter that originated as a mod for Half-Life: Alyx, is scheduled to launch in Early Access on September 10 on Steam. Developed by ANB_Seth, the title places players in the role of a professional hitman working for a mysterious order dedicated to dispensing justice to the criminal underworld.

Previously, during the August VR Games Showcase, the standalone title was announced as a hybrid game supporting both VR and non-VR gameplay, with plans to launch alongside an anticipated device called Steam Frame in 2026. This connection drew close monitoring from a segment of the gaming community tracking updates regarding the headset. However, Valve has not officially confirmed a release date for the headset at the time of reporting.

Addressing the timing on Reddit, the developer released a brief statement clarifying the change in plans: "While the initial plan was to launch the same day as Steam Frame, we ultimately decided to choose our own launch timing. But we still have full trust that Steam Frame will be coming this Summer, as this is Valve's last standing statement. So we wanted to pick a date that will make sure that Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone will be available close to any possible Steam Frame Summer-release."
