GTA 6 Will Track Lots of Things Including Character Sleep and Fitness

Rockstar has revealed that players will need to take care of main characters Lucia and Jason in Grand Theft Auto 6, with new details indicating that even their sleep will be actively tracked. Following the reveal of the GTA 6 Extended Look and subsequent preview sessions for individuals who viewed the preview build, additional intricacies regarding character maintenance and fitness have come to light.

A major feature returning to the series is working out, which has been expanded to be significantly more layered than in previous titles. According to a YouTube video by TGG and reporting via GamesRadar+, players will have access to numerous gyms spread across the city. During a preview playthrough, Rockstar co-head of development Rob Nelson demonstrated how exercise helps manage depleting character bars, noting that buffing stamina is a key priority requiring dedicated exercise routines.

Players can also choose to have Lucia and Jason work out together, transforming the gym session into a shared date. In the preview session, both characters entered a gym and purchased memberships, while Lucia purchased a protein shake to assist with her workout. Nelson explained that completing three exercises in a session finishes the daily workout and helps increase character health, while stamina can be improved through alternative cardio exercises.

In addition to physical workouts, Nelson discussed sleep tracking features built into GTA 6. TGG observed the sleep tracking interface within the fitness app on the characters' in-game phones. This tracker provides direct information regarding whether Lucia and Jason are well-rested, and failing to manage rest can negatively affect the regeneration of certain attributes. Emphasizing the scope of the simulation systems, Nelson stated that developers track a wide variety of attributes and mechanics within the upcoming title.
