Rockstar has confirmed that separate writing teams are creating pedestrian dialogue, radio content, advertising, and comedy for Grand Theft Auto 6, with narrative leadership describing that work as part of the living world.

Rockstar Games has shared new details about how Grand Theft Auto 6 is building the smaller parts of its world. The studio says dedicated writers are creating pedestrian dialogue, radio content, advertising, and comedy material for the game.

The information comes from an interview with Rupert Humphries, Senior Vice President of Narrative, published in the October 5 edition of Love Magazine. He discussed the team behind what Rockstar calls the game's background noise.

“We have brought together an amazing team of writers and creatives to make this game and all the ‘background noise’ that makes the city and world come to life,” he said.

“We have a specific team of pedestrian dialogue writers in LA, and then a team of advertising and comedy writers across New York, LA, and London.”

Humphries also said the group includes people from different backgrounds. “It’s a team from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life, but we all share a sense of humour and a desire to have a bit of fun with the ridiculousness of humans and the media and advertising.”

He added, “And none of us see it as background! It’s all part of the tapestry of the game and creates the experience of living in this wild world.”

Those comments matter to players because the Grand Theft Auto series has long used non-player character chatter, radio shows, billboards, and street-level details to make its cities feel busy. The main story may be the headline feature, but the smaller layers of dialogue and media are what many players notice while driving, walking, or exploring.

The source does not say how many writers are involved, what their roles are beyond the named teams, or which specific radio stations, advertisements, or pedestrian lines will appear in the final game. It also does not provide new release timing beyond the source's reference to next month's release.

What is clear is that Rockstar is treating ambient content as a deliberate part of the game's design. The studio is not just filling streets with generic chatter. It is using separate writing groups to create the tone, humor, and texture of the world around the player.

For fans waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6, that detail points to a familiar strength of the series. The game may be judged by its main characters and story, but the background noise is where the world starts to feel inhabited.
