GTA 6 Brings Back Fan-Favorite San Andreas Feature Allowing Character Body Changes

A deep-dive on GTA 6 reveals that character bodies will change based on eating, exercise, and sleep habits, mirroring features from San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is bringing back a fan-favorite mechanic from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and other Rockstar titles. According to an early deep-dive published by Dazed, player characters will feature a body that changes dynamically based on their in-game eating, exercise, and sleep habits. Players who consume a lot of food will become chubby, those who exercise enough will look chiseled, and characters who go too long without sleep will appear visibly worn out.

This level of interactivity and realism builds on systems previously seen in older Rockstar games. In GTA: San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption 2, player behavior directly impacted avatar appearances, such as Arthur Morgan developing a long beard or showing bruised and battered conditions after prolonged fights. While mechanics of this nature are not entirely new for the developer, it was previously unknown whether GTA 6 would carry forward this level of physical detail.

Additional details about the game are expected to emerge soon, as a gameplay reveal is scheduled by Netflix for this Thursday despite recent leaks. Meanwhile, Rockstar has issued its official public response addressing the leaks, describing the situation as heartbreaking and stating that the unexpected footage was not how the team intended the public to see the game after all this time.
