An unofficial GTA 5 port for Nintendo Switch is shutting down after Take-Two Interactive took action against the project. Paralympics Productions, the modding team behind the port, announced the closure on September 28, with the project ending October 3rd.

The team had been working on the Switch port for an extended period, officially unveiling it in August. Project lead "Mojso" confirmed that Take-Two's legal pressure forced the shutdown, though he indicated the company opted for a takedown order rather than pursuing a full lawsuit.

"I am thankful for Take-Two's mercy so this is the definitive end," Mojso wrote in a statement. He acknowledged that Rockstar has "solid grounds" for the action and that he "wouldn't win in court most likely." The port was set to release in the coming days before the takedown occurred.

Rockstar Games clarified its position on unauthorized ports earlier this month with updated modding guidelines stating: "Do not modify our games to operate on consoles, hardware devices, or other platforms where they have not been officially released by Rockstar Games."

Mojso confirmed the project is over and he won't release anything new or return to the effort. The shutdown follows previous attempts by modders to port GTA 5 to the Switch after the game's source code leaked in 2024. Despite fan interest in bringing the title to Nintendo's hardware, Rockstar's stricter enforcement of its intellectual property rights appears likely to prevent such projects from reaching completion.
