Modder Fixes Broken Hot Dog Vendors in GTA 5 That Rockstar Left Incomplete
A PC Gamer writer has successfully implemented working hot dog vendors in Grand Theft Auto 5, a feature that appears to have been left non-functional by Rockstar Games despite likely being intended to work similarly to GTA 4's system.

A modder has restored a broken feature in Grand Theft Auto 5: functional hot dog vendors on Los Santos beach. The vendors were apparently intended to work much like they did in GTA 4, but remain non-functional in the released game for reasons unexplained by Rockstar.
The fix allows players to purchase hot dogs from vendors for five dollars. The food item heals the player, just as it would in reality, creating a fully operational vending system that had been dormant for years.
The modder noted the feature works particularly well when combined with other mods, including a random-teleport system that can place players atop landmarks mid-transaction. Bodyguards spawned by celebrity mods can manifest nearby during the process, though this doesn't interrupt hot dog consumption.
The restoration highlights a gap between GTA 5's design and its final implementation. While Rockstar's upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 carries a substantial development budget, it remains unclear whether the next entry will provide a complete hot dog purchasing experience from launch.
