Player Uses '2gether' Mod in Grand Theft Auto 5 to Address NPC Companionship
A Grand Theft Auto 5 player explored the '2gether' mod to connect protagonists with random NPCs in Los Santos.
A recent experiment in Grand Theft Auto 5 explored a humorous approach to companionship using the community-made '2gether' mod. After previous attempts to introduce alternative modifications resulted in chaotic encounters—such as a failed experiment involving digital pocket monsters—the focus shifted toward human-to-NPC connection.
The '2gether' mod allows players controlling protagonists like Franklin, Michael, and Trevor to approach random non-player characters and attach them onto their bodies like a backpack or carry them in cupped hands. During testing in Los Santos, the local populace demonstrated extreme pliability, accepting being carried or sitting in the lotus position without objecting to ongoing background chaos like flying cars and gang warfare.
In one test, a hiker was picked up and carried through a busy intersection while remaining entirely placid through multiple vehicle impacts before being safely returned to a nature spot. While these virtual friendships are ultimately temporary, the modification offers a uniquely surreal perspective on interacting with the citizens of Los Santos.
