Modder ChunkLeChuck has released DLSS-IV, a new mod for Grand Theft Auto 4 that adds native support for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR upscaling technologies. The mod also includes improved anti-aliasing and proper HDR support for the 2008 game.

DLSS-IV supports both NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. For AMD users, the mod uses FSR 4 for Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 series GPUs, while other supported cards default to FSR 3.1.5. The mod implements HDR using the Xbox 360 gamma curve from FusionFix and relies on DXVK to bring modern PC graphics features to the older title.

Installation requires FusionFix as a prerequisite. The NVIDIA DLSS file is included in the main download, and users configure upscaling options through a DLSSIV.cfg file. A supported graphics card compatible with the selected upscaler and renderer is required.

Performance testing by the modder showed modest improvements. DLSS Quality achieved 181 FPS, about 3.4% faster than vanilla. FSR Quality reached 182.4 FPS (4.2% gain), while DLSS Balanced hit 182.6 FPS (4.3% improvement). FSR Ultra Performance was the fastest at 183.1 FPS, roughly 4.6% quicker than the standard game. Native anti-aliasing modes performed slower, with FSR Native AA averaging 165.7 FPS and DLAA at 164.6 FPS.

The mod is compatible with other popular GTA 4 enhancements, including FusionFix and the RTX Remix Mod, which adds real-time path tracing to the game.
