Gray Zone Warfare Reaches 30% Complete With Rogue Ops Update Launching October 22
MADFINGER Games is pushing Gray Zone Warfare into alpha with version 0.5, introducing hideouts, drug manufacturing, black market tech trading, and multiple playable characters. The update represents the game's second of three planned gameplay loops.

Gray Zone Warfare is transitioning from pre-alpha to alpha with the Rogue Ops update arriving October 22, 2026. MADFINGER Games has confirmed the game is now 30% complete relative to its full vision, with 70% of content still in development.
Rogue Ops introduces a hideout system that anchors the game's second gameplay loop. Players can establish bases and build facilities including a chemistry lab for manufacturing substances. The update offers two distinct progression paths: work with Lab Rat to supply medical morphine to clinics worldwide, or partner with Vulture to produce and distribute heroin for profit. Each choice carries reputation consequences and opens different opportunities, including contracts with Banshee to hunt drug runners for the opposing faction.
A second facility, the Micro Lab, allows players to salvage abandoned technology and relics. Players can partner with Artisan for legitimate research or Turncoat to sell technology on the black market, adding another layer of moral choice to progression.
The update includes three new explorable locations: the Radio Observatory, Asylum, and Military Research Site. These areas expand the game's lore and offer tactical challenges with opportunities to secure high-value loot from the Lamang region.
Additional features in version 0.5 include support for up to four playable characters per account, full separation of PvE and PvEvP servers with irreversible server selection, and over 400 new weapon attachments and parts. AI behavior has been enhanced with passive actions like smoking and conversations, and NPCs can now throw grenades. Unreal Engine 5.7 brings improved lighting and clouds alongside anti-cheat enhancements.
Rogue Ops will implement the game's first soft wipe, resetting only in-game currency and equipment while preserving existing character progression. Selected journalists, streamers, content creators, and Supporter Edition owners will access the update three days early starting October 19.
From October 1 through October 8, all Gray Zone Warfare editions will be discounted 33% during the Steam Autumn Sale. A three-part devlog series will detail upcoming features over the three weeks before launch.
"Announcing the release date for Rogue Ops is a commitment to delivering the best possible experience to our dedicated community," said Tomáš Nawar, spokesperson for MADFINGER Games.
