GOG Preservation Program Expands with Printable Big Box Packaging and Nox Update
GOG has updated its preservation program to include 3D models and print-at-home templates for classic PC big box packaging, alongside a major compatibility update for Westwood Studios' Nox.

Good Old Games has announced an expansion to its ongoing game preservation initiative. Select titles featured on the platform will now include high-definition 3D models of their original big box packaging alongside full-size templates that players can print and assemble at home. GOG developed this new initiative in collaboration with Benjamin Wimmer's Big Box Collection, an archival project that has spent the last decade scanning classic PC game packaging.
Currently, the printable big box feature is available for five specific titles within the catalog. These supported games include Armikrog from 2015, Descent from 1995, Myst from 1993, Hitman: Codename 47 from 2000, and Star Trek: 25th Anniversary from 1992. GOG has confirmed plans to expand this packaging support to additional compatible titles in future releases. Alongside the flat templates intended for physical assembly, each included game features an interactive 3D model that players can open using native model viewers on PC or Mac systems.
In related preservation news, Westwood Studios and Electronic Arts' action role-playing game Nox has also joined the GOG Preservation Program. Nox received a substantial version 1.2 update that removes outdated compatibility shims entirely and introduces the GOG DXWrapper to ensure proper operation on modern machines. The patch notes also highlight the inclusion of a custom widescreen resolution selectable directly from the options menu, as well as the restoration of online multiplayer functionality through Westwood Online service dependencies, correct registry entries, and XWIS.net servers. The original installer sequence was additionally archived as a downloadable video recording in the goodies section.
