Gods, Death & Reapers Early Access Pushed to 2027, New Playtest Announced

Wolcen Studio has delayed the Steam Early Access release of Gods, Death & Reapers to February 2027, while announcing a new Closed Alpha 6 playtest for later this month.

Developer Wolcen Studio has announced a delay for the upcoming free-to-play action RPG, Gods, Death & Reapers. Originally slated for an earlier window, the game's Steam Early Access release has been pushed back to February 2027 to provide the development team with additional time to work on the title.

Despite the delay, players will have an opportunity to test the game much sooner. The studio has scheduled a brand-new Closed Alpha 6 playtest, which is set to run from September 24 to September 28, 2026. This upcoming test will be available to participants across North America, Europe, South America, East Asia, and Southeast Asia.

The Closed Alpha 6 build will introduce several new features and content to the game, including a party system, the new double axes weapon type, Soulbound items, and an entirely new Asgard map. Gods, Death & Reapers is set within an afterlife where gods have perished but mythology remains real. Players assume the role of an individual chosen by Death to restore balance across various mythological realms, beginning with Norse Mythology.

Additionally, the title features an Extraction mode where players venture into maps with distinct objectives and treasures. Participants must face both enemies and rival players to secure loot, with only successful extractions allowing rewards to be kept and exchanged with other players.
