Genshin Impact Version 7.1, "A Rekviem for the Underworld," launches after scheduled server maintenance on September 23, 2026. HoYoverse confirmed that update maintenance begins on September 23 at 06:00 UTC+8 and is expected to run for approximately 5 hours.

The maintenance occurs at a single global moment: 22:00 UTC on September 22, 2026. Players in North America and Europe see the update on the evening of September 22, while Asia region clocks show September 23 at 06:00. Estimated server return is 03:00 UTC on September 23, or around 11:00 UTC+8 on September 23 for the Asia server, provided the work stays on schedule. HoYoverse typically announces extended maintenance through official channels and provides compensation if downtime exceeds the scheduled window.

All eligible players receive 300 Primogems for the downtime, calculated at 60 Primogems per hour. Players must be Adventure Rank 5 or above at 06:00 UTC+8 on September 23 to qualify. The Primogems arrive through in-game mail within 5 hours after maintenance ends. Mail expires after 30 days, and there is no redemption code for this reward. Because the payout is based on the hourly rate, 300 is the standard amount for a five-hour window. During Version 7.0, HoYoverse sent a separate Issue Fix Compensation of 300 Primogems with a shorter claim window of about three days, so players should check their mail early.

The 7.1 pre-install is 10 GB on PC and 4 GB on mobile, compared with 8 GB and 3 GB for Version 7.0 (sizes assume one voice-over pack). Mobile players cannot play the game while pre-install is running. On PC, click the Pre-Install button in the launcher. PlayStation users see pre-install begin automatically when launching the game if storage is available. Xbox Series X|S players can go to My games & apps, open Manage, then select Updates. iOS players must update through the App Store once servers reopen.

Version 7.1 continues the Snezhnaya storyline and introduces two new 5-star characters. Vesna is an Anemo sword user, and Vodyanitsa is a Hydro catalyst user. Character banners Phase 1 runs "When Warm Winds Cavort" for Vesna and "Surging Ballad" for Vodyanitsa until October 13 at 17:59 server time, with shared featured 4-stars Diona, Faruzan, and Chongyun. The weapon banner features two new 5-star weapons: Beyond the Chrysalis (sword) and Hymn of the Maelstrom (catalyst).

Archon Quest Chapter VII Acts III and IV become permanently available. The Epilogue following Act IV is time-limited and opens until November 3 at 14:59 server time. The Tabletop Troupe event lets players select one free 5-star character from Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Chiori, Clorinde, and Varesa, requiring Adventure Rank 18 and Chapter VII Act IV completion.

Genshin Impact's sixth anniversary falls on September 28, five days after the 7.1 release. A login mail event pays 400 Primogems per day from September 28 to October 1 for 1,600 total, and a separate login event awards 10 Intertwined Fates.
