Echoes of Aincrad Announced to Receive Genesis Maidens DLC This Winter

Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Game Studio Inc. have announced upcoming downloadable content for the action RPG Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online. Titled Genesis Maidens, the expansion is scheduled to release this winter across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

The upcoming expansion introduces a fresh storyline and side quests set across new areas on Floors 1 and 2 of Aincrad. Among the key additions is a new ally, Misumi Tozawa—also known as Mito—originating from the Sword Art Online Progressive films. Alongside the new character, the DLC incorporates a brand-new curved sword weapon type and a dedicated armor enhancement system for players to utilize.

Echoes of Aincrad originally launched as a retelling of the first story arc from the popular light novel and anime series, letting players control a fully customizable trapped player alongside familiar series characters like Kirito, Asuna, and a fellow beta tester named Iori.
