Modder PunishedWolf has released Update 1.1.3439 for Gears of War: Redux, a community overhaul of the original PC version. The update introduces significant performance and stability improvements across multiple areas.

The headline feature is a new 64-bit build that removes the previous 4 GB memory limit. The launcher automatically selects the 64-bit version, though players can switch back to 32-bit if needed. This change addresses out-of-memory crashes that occurred on large maps and during extended Horde runs.

Shader streaming has been overhauled to eliminate most stuttering. Previously, the game rebuilt shaders every session instead of saving them. The update now saves shaders properly and includes a new set of rebuilt shaders for cleaner performance.

Loading times are faster thanks to PhysX 2.8.4 integration, which reads saved collision data instead of regenerating it during startup. Handheld players gain new 40 FPS and 45 FPS frame rate options.

The update adds native support for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR without requiring external injectors, wrappers, or DLL swaps. According to the modder, this native implementation should deliver better performance than previous workarounds.

Ten maps have been rebuilt across Gears 1, Gears 2, and Gears 2 remakes, along with the Factory campaign level. The update is designed for the original PC version and does not apply to the Reloaded Edition. Gears of War: Redux Update 1.1.3439 is available through its launcher.
