The Coalition releases October 5 patch for Gears of War: E-Day

The Coalition has released an October 5 update for Gears of War: E-Day. This pre-release patch focuses on improving game stability, performance, and hardware compatibility. The update is currently available for owners of the Premium Edition via Steam and the Microsoft Store, while all other players will receive the changes when the game launches tomorrow.

Multiplayer and online services received several fixes to improve the user experience. The patch addresses an issue where Versus Social matches could become stuck on the "Waiting for players" screen. It also improves Xbox authentication handling for instances where the system clock differs significantly from the correct time. Additionally, the update fixes the "Bilefrog-Kalona" error, which previously caused split-screen players to be signed out after a game was suspended and resumed. Online session stability has also been improved when accessing session information.

The campaign mode includes fixes for various progression and gameplay issues. Players joining an active campaign session will no longer receive War Journal progress or Forge rewards that were earned before they joined. The update also resolves a bug where players could remain attached to turrets during cinematic or gameplay transitions. Specific mission fixes were implemented for Act 2, Chapter 2, regarding objective updates in Allfather’s Plaza and the appearance of Heavy Gear in the Black Raven Down side objective. Act 4 also received fixes for side objectives in Chapter 1 and the Power Station defense objective in Chapter 2.

Horde Siege players will see improvements to Siege Blitz Secure objectives and the extraction helicopter, which previously failed to appear during Plaza Ruins Blitz missions. In Versus mode, a bug in Demolition that caused bombs to get stuck in a defusing state when a player was eliminated has been resolved. Finally, the update adjusts the size and appearance of Online Diagnostic text and fixes a UI issue regarding the repeated claiming of Challenge Mail rewards.
