Frictional Games Announces New Title Ontos Featuring Rat-Powered Computers

Frictional Games, the developer well-known for titles like Amnesia: The Bunker, has revealed its next upcoming game, titled Ontos. According to a trailer and official details, the game projects a grim near-future setting where humanity has established a hotel on the surface of the moon, yet consumer hardware struggles under an ongoing RAM crisis driven by artificial intelligence datacenters.

The trailer showcases disturbing imagery, including a man strapped to a chair with electrodes attached to his head, a character missing significant parts of their face as if utilizing DisplayPort cables directly into the brain, and a massive wall-sized computer connected to 60 rats in sequence or parallel. The YouTube description for the trailer poses an ominous question to players: whether they will follow instructions given through the rodent machine, seek an alternative approach, or sabotage the experiment entirely out of morbid curiosity.

According to the developers, there will be no right or wrong solutions in Ontos. The game is scheduled to launch next year. Frictional Games' previous title, Amnesia: The Bunker, was released to critical acclaim, earning a 93% score from PC Gamer.
