Fortnite v42.10 Update Brings 25 Sprites, New Loot Hacks, and OG Season X

Epic Games released the Fortnite v42.10 update on September 3, 2026, delivering a major content drop for Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. The patch represents the first major content update since the Override season officially launched on August 20. Maintenance for the update began with downtime at 4 AM ET, with matchmaking disabled 30 minutes prior, and maintenance running until roughly 6 AM ET.

The update introduces 25 new Sprites to the game, which became available following the daily Sprite reset at 9 AM ET on September 3. While only four of these additions are entirely new types, the rest include Cheat Master, Gold, and Loot Hacker variants. Notable variants include the X-Ray, Overshield, and Onigiri Sprites, alongside 15 Loot Hacker Sprite variants tied to existing characters like the Crown, Klombo, Jackrabbit, Killswitch, Tails, Sonic, Shadow, 8-Bit, Bushranger, Adventure, Jonesy, and Storm Scout Sprites. Exact unlock locations for the Loot Hacker Sprites remain unconfirmed by official sources.

Additionally, the v42.10 patch introduces six new Loot Hacks designed to let players customize their personal loot pools during Battle Royale matches. The new items consist of the Rocket Ram, Golden Banana, Tracking Visor, Holo Twister Assault Rifle, Deadeye Assault Rifle, and Wrecker Revolver, which replace the previous lineup including the Sonic Power Sneakers. The Rocket Ram allows players to smash through structures in a manner similar to the God Mode Llama.

Two new Match Overrides have also been added for Battle Royale and Zero Build: Big Heads and Prop Hunt. The Big Heads modifier previously featured during the year's April Fool's event, while Prop Hunt allows players to disguise themselves as objects.

Finally, Fortnite OG Season X launched on September 3 following a rerun of the Final Showdown live event. Continuing the recreation of Chapter 1, OG Season X brings back the B.R.U.T.E. mech and the Automatic Sniper Rifle, alongside an updated OG map featuring iconic points of interest such as Tilted Town, Starry Suburbs, and The Meteor.
