Fortnite servers are currently unavailable following downtime on August 20 for a major game update. Players logging into the Epic Games battle royale title are faced with server outages as the game transitions into Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, which introduces a variety of new content, collaborations, and mechanics.

While Epic Games has not publicly confirmed an exact time when the servers will return, a post on X advertising the start of Chapter 7 Season 4 pointed to 6 AM ET / 11 AM BST. This window aligns with typical post-update schedules for the game, though delays can occur depending on whether unexpected technical issues arise during maintenance.

The August 20 update serves as the gateway to Chapter 7 Season 4, which is headlined by a crossover collaboration featuring Sonic the Hedgehog with a skin included in the Battle Pass. Additional collaborations on the way include Tetris, Pac-Man, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Persona. Alongside these franchise crossovers, the seasonal transition introduces standard loot pool updates, map revamps, new bosses and NPCs, new Sprites to discover, and the debut of the Sprite Garden feature where players can showcase collections from all seasons.
